We tend to forget how much culture went into the black hole because of covid lockdowns. Genevieve Murphy’s I don’t want to be an individual all on my own (Gaudeamus & Unsounds Series Sound of the Young Avant-Garde, 2021) is one of them. But this sonic tale is so incredibly strong, well-told, layered, adventurous, downright funny and very moving at the same time I can’t believe nobody noticed. Please buy her album on Bandcamp, support the artists, not the filthy rich. If I can’t dance, I don’t want to be part of your revolution.
“I was about to turn 8 …”
“Stop right now, thank you very much, I need somebody with a human touch..”
