A new wave of jazz @KAAP O

Een van de vele mooie labels hier in België heet A new wave of jazz en wordt gecureerd door gitarist Dirk Serries. Volgende week vrijdag komt Serries in KAAP Oostende spelen, samen met Martina Verhoeven (piano), Patrick de Groote (trompet) en Onno Govaert (drums). Check hier hun catalogus. A NEW WAVE OF JAZZ, curated by Dirk Serries, is not about jazz music, persé, but more about a philosophy.  A style, an approach, a modus operandi in communicating between artists, label and audience.  A platform for all experiments and sound exchanges between the affiliated musicians on the label, from full-on free improvisation to minimalism.  As much as possible, geographically this is sometimes a challenge, A NEW WAVE OF JAZZ works closely together with the Sunny Side Inc. studio in Anderlecht (Belgium) to realize that unique and audiofile sound for every release. The artwork is simple, all covers are identical in design, courtesy of Rutger Zuydervelt, and feature the liner notes of Belgian critic and connaisseur Guy Peters.
